New IEEE Interface

IEEE has a new interface that will be available mid-February. In preparation for the launch, they have put together a "getting started with your search" tutorial:

http://www.ieee.org/portal/cms_docs_iportals/iportals/publications/subscriptions/newieeexplore/ieee_xplore_getting_started_userguide.pdf

When the new interface is available you will see it automatically from the link on the Engineering Library homepage when you click on IEEE Xplore under "Find Articles" :

New Hesburgh Libraries Xerox Copy Machines

The copy machines in all of the Hesburgh Libraries are now connected to Domer Dollars for payment. For faculty/staff who would like to charge copies in the Hesburgh Libraries to a university account there is a form that can be filled out and sent to Juliane Lusk (julianelusk@nd.edu) in the South Dining Hall. It usually takes a day or two for the electronic process to be complete and then the amount will appear on the user’s id card as Domer Dollars available for use.

Schedule Library Instruction Session

If you are interested in scheduling a library instruction session for any course you are teaching that has library research as a component of the class, librarians can tailor library instruction sessions to meet the needs of your students. Topics that can be covered include – but are not limited to:

1. Searching the ND Catalog
2. Searching article databases
3. Using specialized subject databases
4. Evaluating sources of information
5. Using information ethically and legally
6. Citing sources using RefWorks

Please contact Carol Brach directly for more information or to schedule instruction. Individual, team or group instruction can be tailored to the needs of your students.

Just a quick reminder about the new Library Undergraduate Research Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize undergraduates who demonstrate excellent research skills and who incorporate library resources, collections and services into their scholarly and creative projects. Please consider encouraging one of your students to apply, all that is needed from you is a statement of support. We would love to see an engineering student be the first recipient of this new award!!! http://www.library.nd.edu/research-award/
